Beskrivning

Rome has been the subject of countless depictions, yet this book fills a huge gap. Architecture and city have never before been described in a context from antiquity to our time, where even the last 20 years’ architecture is presented. More than 380 pictures and long captions make the book an exciting walk in Rome. The rich imagery depicts city and architecture with a proximity so that one can experience Rome today. At the same time, the texts provide an intertwined architecture and city-building history that highlights the tasks that architects and city builders have had to take in Rome’s unique urban environment during different times.

The architects Gunilla Linde Bjur  and Hans Bjur  have both been active as professors for a long time. They have experience from 20 years of teaching architects and engineers  on-site in Rome, which contributes to the book’s knowledgeable and vibrant depiction of the city of Rome and its architectural history from antiquity to our day.
